Winnipeg, MB - Mar
27, 2006 - Traditional Yahrzeit Memorial
displays only list names and dates. They are bound by space
limitations and are expensive to update. Not any more.
Following up on the success of their interactive
multimedia information kiosks and digital signage displays
for non-profit organizations, PlannedLegacy Inc. has installed
its first interactive Yahrzeit Memorial Display at the Shaarey
Zedek Synagogue in Winnipeg.
The new memorial system has unlimited capacity and is quick
and easy to update using Web-based administration software.
Authorized Synagogue staff can now add, delete and revise
Yahrzeit names, dates, biographies and photographs as well
as family tree connections, from the convenience of their
office.
“It’s an amazing system, absolutely state-of-the-art,”
said Jackie Wassermann, Executive Director of Shaarey Zedek
Synagogue. “The potential is unlimited and people
are quite taken by it. Space was becoming a huge problem
for us and this system addresses that problem while also
offering a much broader range of options than the plaque
system.”
“It’s dignified, it’s interactive and
it’s timeless,” added Shaarey Zedek Funeral
Director Tybie Floom. “Future generations will not
only be able to see their family tree but also learn about
the founders of the community.”
Displayed on a 40-inch LCD screen with an infrared Touch
Overlay, the electronic Yahrzeit Memorial Display maintains
the dignity of a traditional bronze or wooden wall, but
also incorporates compelling features and innovations which
greatly enhance the personal remembrance experience.
The display features multimedia content which is accessed
by touching the screen, but it can also be made self-cycling
for organizations wishing to disable the interactive component
on Shabbat and other religious holidays.
Synagogue members and visitors can quickly find the names
of relatives and friends by entering a last name into a
searchable index. Families can include profiles, photographs
and achievements of a loved one’s life, allowing others
to become more aware of that individual’s contributions
to the Synagogue and the community.
The electronic Yahrzeit Memorial Display offers unmatched
presentation flexibility and display options that include:
- English and Hebrew names
- Gregorian and Hebrew date of passing
- Linked family trees with biographies and photos
- Weekly Yahrzeit display dates
- Touch-disabling and self-cycling display of current
Yahrzeits for Shabbat and religious holidays
- Customized background colors and design
- Custom-designed enclosures
- Yizkor display option
Like many other progressive non-profits, Shaarey Zedek
Synagogue has also installed a PlannedLegacy digital signage
display in another area of their Synagogue, to attract and
engage visitors with up-to-date multimedia messaging. The
self-cycling multimedia display features information about
the Synagogue, announcements, activities, youth programs,
fundraisers and upcoming events etc.
The enhanced communications offered by the interactive
Yahrzeit Memorial Display and the self-cycling digital signage
display are helping the Shaarey Zedek Synagogue to create
a more dynamic connection with their congregation.
