Winnipeg, MB - October 28, 2002 - Hospitals are known for using state-of-the-art technology, but the Victoria General Hospital is going high-tech in the least likely of places - its front lobby.
In January 2003, the Victoria General Hospital Foundation will be unveiling Tribute - a high-tech communications, awareness and donor recognition solution designed by PlannedLegacy Inc. of Winnipeg. With Tribute, the Foundation will have an effective way to graphically demonstrate the Hospital's fundraising needs - and to recognize those donors, volunteers and corporate sponsors who support their projects.
"We are excited to bring this kind of technology to our fundraising program," says Pat McCallum, Executive Director, Victoria General Hospital Foundation. "As we prepare to embark on a fundraising campaign for the Hospital's $11 million redevelopment project, Tribute is a very effective way for us to communicate to an important group of people - the staff, patients and visitors that enter our front doors every day.
"Tribute is an innovative solution to communicating in a difficult space and it brings together the best in technology, communications and recognition in a cost-efficient system that meets our needs. It also will allow us to customize information over time and use it in many ways to benefit our patients and staff. We are confident Tribute will help us achieve some of our vital communications and fundraising goals over the next several years."
The hospital's lobby - one of the areas to be renovated during the redevelopment - is small for a hospital that has more than 40,000 patients come through its doors annually. The new Tribute system will include a high-definition plasma display and a Web-based touch-screen kiosk, which will display organizational information, provide details of the renovation project, highlight the Foundation's fundraising goals and recognize contributors.
"This is an exciting partnership for us," said PlannedLegacy President Marshall Posner. "While the majority of our market exists in the U.S., this is an opportunity to work with a leading-edge hospital foundation on the local front. The progressive leadership at the Victoria General Hospital, combined with Tribute's ability to create awareness and superior long-term relationships with donors, volunteers and corporate sponsors, will ensure long-term growth and continuity for their giving programs. We look forward to a long and successful relationship."
This will be the first implementation of a Tribute system in a Winnipeg hospital.
