Air Force Memorial Foundation recruits PlannedLegacy to develop interactive donor recognition systemInteractive donor recognition application named finalist at 2007 KioskCom Self-Service Excellence Awards

PlannedLegacy garners nomination for outdoor touch-screen kiosks at United States Air Force Memorial

Independent Charities of America
Winnipeg, MB - Apr. 26, 2007
-- Interactive donor recognition company PlannedLegacy has been named a finalist in the 2007 KioskCom Self-Service Excellence Awards for Best Government/Education/Non-Profit Agency Deployment of an interactive kiosk. The nomination is a result of PlannedLegacy’s creation of three outdoor touch-screen kiosks for the United States Air Force (USAF) Memorial in Arlington, Virginia.

The USAF multimedia presentation is designed and programmed to achieve a number of communications and recognition objectives in an engaging, easy to navigate environment. The multimedia presentations can be viewed on one of three specially designed outdoor touch-screen kiosks manufactured by 5Point of Xenia, Ohio.

When visitors first approach the presentation they are met with an animated welcome screen that invites them to touch one of several navigation buttons that take them to specific modules within the program which include:

  • Charter Registry: A searchable database of over 140,000 individuals and companies that contributed funds to make the Memorial a reality. Visitors can search donors by first name and last name, last name only or alphabetically.
  • Air Force Heroes: A celebration of the heroism and vision of the men and women who have sacrificed their lives in service to their country. Visitors can search for heroes by name, nominator or search all hero names and profiles. An enclosed printer also produces a form that visitors can use to create and submit their own personal hero tribute.
  • As Dreams Take Flight: Chronicles the history of aviation in America and, in particular, that of the USAF. Through the use of archival video, photography and illustrations, along with informative captions and highlights, this module truly brings USAF history to life. Visitors can print any screen image to take with them.
  • A Legacy of Service & Sacrifice: The creation of the USAF Memorial required the collective vision and commitment of thousands of dedicated individuals. This module features an interactive timeline that uses photography and narrative text to plot the evolution of the Memorial from initial concept through to planning, legislation, construction and completion.
  • How To Contribute: Allows visitors to make financial contributions at the touch-screen kiosks by pressing the How To Contribute button. Progressive screen displays gather donor information as well as the contribution amount and forward the data securely to the Memorial’s administration office for processing. At the same time a receipt is generated that the donor can take away for his or her records.
  • Attract Loop: When the multimedia presentation has been idle for a predetermined period, an attract loop or screen saver engages. The attract loop can feature a call to action to passers by, a scrolling list of donors or other compelling messages.
