Mount Carmel Health System is one of the largest healthcare
providers in central Ohio and has been providing world-class
healthcare with compassion, acceptance, respect and empathy
for over 118 years. They offer patient care in four highly
respected hospitals, as well as in-surgery centers, outpatient
facilities, physicians' offices, community outreach sites
and homes throughout central Ohio.
Working in collaboration with Planned Legacy, Mount Carmel
developed three interactive multimedia presentations, one
for each of Mount Carmel East, Mount Carmel West and St.
Anne’s Healthcare Center, all designed to highlight
The Mount Carmel Foundation. The interactive displays were
designed to communicate Foundation goals and achievements,
highlight donor recognition and provide visitors with an
overview of health services and facilities.
The multimedia presentations were designed to inspire,
excite, motivate and inform visitors, with the ultimate
goal being to provide an understanding and appreciation
of the Foundation’s goals and achievements, leading
them to become greater and more frequent contributors.
Each presentation is viewed on a 40-inch LCD display outfitted
with an infrared touch-screen overlay, a speaker and a credit
card swipe that allows for donations to be made right at
the display. Visitors can view information about Mount Carmel
Health Systems and projects the Foundation has completed
or is planning, while also being able to search donors names
and profiles via an alphabetized index or though a search
of giving categories.
Visitors to the display are greeted by a screensaver incorporating
elements of the Foundation’s visual identity along
with graphics and text inviting them to explore further
by pressing buttons which lead to modules including: Mount
Carmel – An Amazing Foundation of Caring; Donor Recognition;
Supporting Mount Carmel; Community Billboard and Donate
Now.
As part of the project, Planned Legacy also designed and
fabricated three custom enclosures to house the presentation
hardware. The enclosures were shipped directly to Columbus,
where healthcare facilities staff installed them. Foundation
staff uses the Planned Legacy content management software
to easily manage text, video, audio and photo content from
the convenience of their desktop computers.
Additionally, the content management software functionality
allows Mount Carmel to measure usage statistics including
time of visit, number of visits, areas of the presentation
visited and length of visits to each area. This enables
Foundation staff to efficiently manage their presentation
and tailor it to better serve visitors. Each presentation
has a different screen saver, and visitors to the presentations
can also view Mount Carmel public service announcement television
commercials.
