Winnipeg, MB - Sept. 30, 2004 - The Newfoundland Cancer Treatment and Research Foundation (NCTRF) in St. John's, Newfoundland (http://www.nctrf.nf.ca) is leading the way for Newfoundland’s non-profit organizations, with the installation of a hi-tech donor recognition and promotion system designed by PlannedLegacy Inc. of Winnipeg.
The state-of-the-art system, the first of its kind to be installed in Newfoundland, includes a self-cycling multimedia presentation that runs on a 42-inch high-resolution NEC plasma display located in the clinic waiting area at the Dr. H. Bliss Murphy Cancer Centre.
"The response has been fabulous," said NCTRF Director of Development Brenda Lockyer. "All of our staff, donors, volunteers and particularly our corporate sponsors, have been very impressed. It’s very easy to update events, change donor names, highlight donors, volunteers and corporate sponsors. It has also made our associated cancer patient support groups very happy, as they can now quickly post their announcements and events on the system when they need to."
The multimedia presentation is highlighted by beautiful artwork created by cancer patients, and is designed to provide leading-edge donor, staff and corporate recognition, while also increasing the NCTRF’s profile. The system will also make the community aware of the programs and services and support that the NCTRF provides for cancer patients and their families throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.
"We wanted to go with an innovative, leading-edge technology, which is a reflection of our state-of-the-art treatment facilities," said NCTRF Development Officer, Lynette Hillier. "We wanted the most cost-effective recognition system and this was it. Newfoundland Power, a major corporate sponsor, plays an integral role through the Power of Life Project, in enhancing cancer education, treatment and awareness programs in this province, and they are thrilled that they are featured every 10 minutes on the display."
The NCTRF presentation features a number of attractive modules, each designed to emphasize a particular aspect of their mission, including: "About the Foundation", "Your Cancer Care Team", "Events Calendar", "Volunteer Recognition", and a "Scrolling Campaign Donor List".
